We loved the layout of the house and the old/new areas which worked so well together. The stairs to the master bedroom were a challange which is always fun anyway and we managed to keep the little chap away from them successfully. My mother was very comfortable in her downstairs room and loved the house and the peaceful garden too. We could not help ourselves from watering the potted plants and weeding a bit on the patios but thats because we never stop gardening at home and had withdrawel symptoms!
Managed to get out and about a lot which was perfect as the location is ideal for all those lovely houses, gardens and delightful villages of the area. We all loved Domfront and returned there a few times to eat and look around.
We can certainly understand why you keep such a lovely house in France it was everything we wanted and more for our holiday. Hope we can go there again sometime.

It was wonderful to stay at La Balayrie in the snow and the silence. We did very much appreciate the fire and the heating already on when we arrived in the dark. Thanks a lot to Jon and Vikki whom we didn't meet, not wanting to disturb them more in this Christmas week.

We had a peaceful and very enjoyable week together. I'll send you some pictures of the house in the snow when my husband will have the pictures downloaded on the computer. It was so cosy to read, play games, have meals (your kitchen is very well equipped!)(we used the"new" one) and walks. Our dog "Toupie" behaved well and stayed on his blanket all the time when he was inside, except of course when we were cooking: he sits very alertly near us waiting for something to fall on the ground. It was mostly a big disappointment for him. There was no problem with Carleen. They went neutrally with each other.

I am afraid it was unusually cold that week and we decided to pay an extra for the use of wood and electricity. I transfered some money to your french account.
We hope you had a good time too with at least as much snow as we did. Have a good start of the year.

We have stayed at many gites over the years and several at this time of year. We all agreed that we would happily stay at La Balayrie ahead of any others if it were to be available.

december/new year 2009/10 Family from West Sussex

Just wanted to thank you both (and Vicky) for a very good relaxing week in your beautiful home. It was freezing as you know but that didn't matter as we did lots of catching up on books and mags and sleeping in the wonderfully comfortable big bed in the old part of the house! We did some pottering around the gorgeous countryside and had a couple of very nice meals out at the Hotel de Parc and St Pierre - back to the grind now but renewed and refreshed.

We had a lovely time at your beautiful home. It was the nicest place we've ever stayed in & we wanted for nothing. It was like being in a home & not holiday accommodation. Of course we could have done without the bee invasion but apart from moving to the downstairs bedroom they didn't bother us! I hope that Jon & Vicky have been able to sort it out. They are a lovely couple & couldn't have been more helpful.

We were very lucky with the weather & despite needing a fire the first 3 nights by the time we got to our first Thursday it was hot which then turned to scorching. The barn was lovely though as it stayed cool so we had none of those sticky nights. We really liked the area, particularly the pretty towns like Domfront & Bagnoles. We also went to lots of "vide-greniers" including a huge one in la Foret D'Andaines which was 2.5km long & stretched from St Martin D'Andaines (I think) to Bagnoles. That day was hot, hot, hot. There were supposed to be 2000 stalls but a lot were clearly traders..I took some of your business cards & have been recommending you to all my friends. So hope you get some custom from that. Thank you again for the use of your lovely home & best wishes for the future.

Just wanted to drop you an email to say we had a lovely time at the farm house last week, weather was fantastic - just wish we were there this week as well! It really is a beautiful place and suited us down to the ground as when Zara woke up at night she didn't disturb the inlaws and we'd all love to come back if you'll have us another year
